Choosing the right quilting design can enhance or hinder the look of your quilt. There are a few things to consider when deciding on the look you want. Who is the quilt for, how will the quilt be used, the pattern or fabric used, all while fitting into your budget.
E2E prices .022c - .032c per square inch
This is usually edge to edge quilting using the same pattern and one color thread.

Any quilt that will be used and washed on a frequent bases. Kids and baby quilts,
lap quilts and some bed quilt.
Quilt where the fabric used has a lot of patterns. The quilting will not show up as much so custom quilting would be a waste of money.

This is where some attention is paid to certain areas of the quilt, like boarders and sashing while the rest is filled in with allover quilting.

How to figure out the cost of quilting
Simply multiply the length and the width than multiply that by the cost square inch.
Example: 40" by 60" equals 2400 X .022 = $52
There is a minimum of $50 no matter the size or type of quilting
Preparing your quilt for quilting
The important thing to know about longarm quilting is the backing and batting need to be at least 10" larger than the top. This allows for 5" extra on all four sides which is important when attaching the quilt to the leaders.
If you want any thread changes, I recommended that you choose a backing with a pattern that will help hide the different color threads.
